LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - It must be a shocking diagnosis for some, since lung cancer can show up in people who have never even smoked one cigarette, but that can be a different kind of lung cancer.
That is what Canadian researchers are saying after analyzing the tumors and tissues of former smokers, current smokers, and those who have never smoked.
They found twice as many DNA changes in the lung tumors of people who have never smoked. They say this study suggests lung cancers' develop through different pathways, and learning more about these DNA differences may help in the treatment of the disease.
