As NewsChannel first told you in February, Lubbock Criminal District Attorney Bill Sowder has been serving his country at Fort Hood.
On Tuesday, Sowder's family, friends, and fellow soldiers watched as he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Colonel Sowder is providing legal assistance to other soldiers brought into active military service. He also handles civil claims against the Army.
Back here in Lubbock, First Assistant District Attorney Matt Powell is serving as Acting Criminal D.A., in Sowder's absence.
