A seven to nine member board will now be charged with insuring Lubbock's water future for the next 100 years.
The city has many water assets, including Lake Alan Henry, a wastewater treatment plant, and an interest in the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority.
The Commission would see to it that decisions are made as a collective group, including budget issues, and expansion projects.
Lubbock will be among only a handful of Texas cities to have such a commission.
