Airport security is not major concern when traveling - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Lubbock motorists say airport security is not their major concern when traveling this Thanksgiving

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Travelers on the South Plains are gearing up for the holiday. People in Lubbock say they are not concerned about the new airport security measures.  Six Lubbock motorists, however, did mention concerns about highway safety.

One said, "some people go a little faster than they should and accidents happen."  Another said drunk drivers seem to be everywhere.  Getting tired and falling asleep behind the wheel was yet another concern they voiced.

"Slow down, speed is the biggest factor," says DPS Corporal John Gonzales. "Last year we wrote over 10,000 speeding tickets just during the thanksgiving holiday."

AAA also expects more people will travel this year.  Their estimate is an 11% increase in the number of travelers nationwide.

Authorities say their best advise is to slow down and pay attention when you hit the road.
