LUBBOCK, Texas - David Tairu scored a career-high 22 points
to lead five Texas Tech players in double figures as the Red
Raiders beat Georgia Southern 103-79 in the South Padre
Invitational on Tuesday night.
Freshman Javarez Willis added 18 points while John Roberson had
17 for Texas Tech (4-1).
Ben Drayton III led the Eagles (2-3) with 23 points while
Cameron Baskerville finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Tairu hit three 3-pointers, and the Red Raiders never trailed
after his first gave them a 5-3 lead.
Texas Tech had struggled early in games this season but shot 50
percent in the first half of this one and hit 12 of 15 free throws
to take a 49-38 halftime lead.
