LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Firefighters struggled against wind gusts of up to 38 miles per hour as they put out a house fire in the 5600 block of Grinnell Street in Northwest Lubbock.
The fire started just after 2:00 PM, and the initial report is that might have started in the home's garage. It spread to the attic. Flames could be seen shooting roughly 30 feet up over the roof.
Thick black smoke covered the downwind side of the neighborhood. Nearly two hours after the initial report, it was finally safe enough for a fire marshal to go inside without an air-pack. So far, there's no word on the cause and initially there's not reports of injuries.
