LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Despite the below freezing temperatures, Target said more than 2,500 people waited in line Thanksgiving night to get those Black Friday deals. Target, along with many other stores opened at 4 a.m. with hungry bargain hunters ready to shop. Some people were still in their pajamas and others were dressed the part, to go store to store in the cold weather.

One customer, John Trevino got to the store at 6 p.m. last night to be the first in line to make sure he could get the deal he wanted.

"It wasn't till an hour later that the second people started to arrive. Close to 8 p.m. some more people then 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. everybody started to show up," said John Trevino, the first person in line at Target for Black Friday.

This year Target said the hot ticket items are televisions, cameras, video games and anything electronic. Employees handed out about 100 numbers to the first customers in line to ensure they would get one of the televisions that were up to 50 percent off.

"It was cold [last night] there is no doubt about that. I wasn't expecting the cold rush to rush in today. I came for a High Definition TV and it was a good deal. We saved almost half about 250 dollars," said John Trevino, the first person in line at Target for Black Friday," said Trevino.

Nearly one hour after the store opened, the register lines wrapped completely around the store, down the aisles. Some customers said it took more than one hour to check out and purchase their bargain items.

"I've been up since yesterday so two days. I think it was worth it because we got something that was a great deal here. And the [TV] is something we can use around the house or wherever I put it," said Trevino.

Not only were the televisions hard to come by, so were shopping carts. One customer in the store actually got their cart stolen accidentally by another customer while KCBD was there. Others with the hot items were questioned by other customers about where they found the flat screen TV since none were on the shelves.

Throughout the early morning customers continued to pour in and out of the store. Some even have the whole day planned out in order to get the most bang for their buck.
