HALE COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - The Department of Public Safety reports that a Kress man died Friday afternoon when his pick-up collided with a train just north of Plainview.

Authorities say Elzy Louis Strange, 65 was headed west on County Road 20 when he failed to yield the right of way at train tracks near the east Interstate-27 access road.  The train collided with Strange's 2011 Ford, ejecting Strange from the vehicle around 3:30 p.m.

Police say Strange was not wearing a seatbelt.  The truck came to rest on its top.  First Responders took Strange to Covenant Hospital in Plainview where doctors pronounced him dead.
