LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Two deeply emotional proposals go back to City Council for consideration this coming Thursday. One would create a committee to study the problem of homelessness in Lubbock.
The other would ban anyone from staying on the Mahon Library grounds or the Civic Center from midnight to 5 a.m. each night. Homeless have often congregated at or near the Mahon, sometimes even leaving sleeping bags or other property on the library grounds for long periods of time. Some say the city has let this problem go too long. Others say it unfairly targets the homeless.
Both proposals have been debated and put off until now.
