Lubbock, TX (KCBD) -  Lubbock police officers played Santa Saturday for 20 deserving boys and girls.

"Seasons Greetings and Merry Christmas from Santa Cops 2010. This is your bike buddy. You get to take it home," said Sgt. John Hayes to a young boy who is part of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.

The boys and girls were escorted around town in patrol cars with lights flashing and sirens blaring. The cops and kids went to Barnes and Noble for books followed by lunch and bowling. The kids got new shoes at Cardinal's and their biggest surprise, a new bike.

The Lubbock Professional Police Association says donations and sponsors make the Santa Cop program a reality. It is an event the officers look forward to and is a way they can give back to kids who may not otherwise have a Christmas.
