Public invited to attend veterans remembrance ceremony

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Civil Air Patrol invites the public to attend a remembrance ceremony for veterans at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 11th, at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

This special event will honor our veterans with a presentation of seven Remembrance Wreaths, one for each branch of the military and for the MIA/POWs.

Prior to the ceremony, approximately 400 wreaths will be placed on the graves of veterans to honor those who served our country as well as current military members. This ceremony coincides with tributes occurring simultaneously across the nation during Wreaths Across America observances.

As a partner in Wreaths Across America, the Civil Air Patrol has adorned memorials and veterans' graves with evergreen wreaths to make sure the sacrifices of our nation's soldiers are not forgotten. Residents of Lubbock and surrounding communities sponsored these special holiday wreaths.

The mission of Wreath Across America is: Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach our children the value of freedom.
