City officials tells NewsChannel 11 a total of fifty jobs were cut. Forty-four will come from LP&L. It effected mostly line workers. The other six positions will be taken from other city departments. LP&L is facing budget concerns related to high natural gas prices and the multi-million dollar debt of WTMPA, the West Texas Municipal Power Association. Sources say all employees will be given 60 days severance pay in addition to their remaining vacation time.
