Majority of Texas Counties under burn ban

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - In just one week the number of Texas Counties declaring burn bans went from 93 to 130.  Lubbock County is not under a burn ban, but according to the Texas Forest Service most of its neighbors are. 

Among those with outdoor burn bans are Castro, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Motley, Cochran, Hockley, Yoakum, Terry, Lynn Garza Kent and Stonewall Counties.  As of December 16th the Lubbock area was not officially in drought according U.S. Drought Monitor.  Wildfires scorched more than 5,000 acres last week in Lamb, Hale & Floyd Counties.
