LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) - South Plains College gets a warning from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The group is called SACS for short.
SACS provides accreditation to colleges and universities for a large part of the country. Accreditation is the proof that a school has good programs and its students get quality education and training.
SACS warned South Plains College last week that it failed to show it has enough of full-time faculty and failed to show that its educational programs are effective. This is just warning. SACS is *not* taking accreditation away from south plains college.
SACS says in a written statement that it will take another look at South Plains in December 2011.
