Consider This...State Champs of Idalou

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - I would remiss among all of the news coverage this week if I didn't take time to congratulate the Idalou Wildcats.

The new State Champs returned home with the trophy this past weekend but they brought back much more than that. All of those pre-game pep talks promising success in exchange for hard work, paid off for everyone on that team Saturday.

Consider this: the Idalou football team in one example we can all learn from. They started the season losing three of their first four games. They picked themselves up from that and won the next 11 games in a row.

Not only did the Wildcats prove they were the best in the State, they showed us that perseverance through defeat pays off. Congratulations to coach Johnny Taylor and all of the Wildcats, you are all truly champions.

Many of these guys are on the State ranked basketball team that made a showing at the Championship game last season. They came up one win short of that title; and this week they play their first district game of the new season.

So as you trade your football cleats for high-tops, here's to bringing home another State Title and another life lesson.
