1,700 families received Christmas food box from SPFB

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Around 1,700 families received a Christmas food box from the South Plains Food Bank on Tuesday. They are the families with children who received a gift from the Salvation Army. Each family received canned goods, fresh fruits, vegetables and a turkey.

"It's just so much fun to be here and see their faces brighten up when they get a food box, especially children who maybe don't get everything they need or want," said David Weaver with the South Plains Food Bank.

The Salvation Army says this year's need was almost double last year's.
