LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Lubbock firefighters responded a silo fire late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. They got the call about 11:15 PM at East 50th and Guava, which is the Pyco facility. Smoke was coming out of a silo that holds cotton husks. It's so tall that fire department ladder trucks can't get to it.
Sometimes putting water on a silo fire can make it worse, so firefighters did what they could. They stood back to watch and to make sure it didn't spread to anywhere else. Firefighters left about 1:00 AM and Pyco officials are monitoring the fire to make sure it does not spread.
