A terrible medical mistake at an Orlando hospital has left a new mother outraged. She says a hospital worker accidentally cut off her newborn baby's middle toe while trying to remove a security sensor tag.
According to the mother, the nurse told her the toe had been nipped but the mother says when she looked, the toe had been completely severed. The hospital says the story is exaggerated, that only the tip of the toe was cut off and surgeons reattached the piece of toe Monday night.
Dr. Richard Shure says that they could get lucky and the whole thing survive but more than likely part of it will survive and part of it won't.
Shaketa Simmons, mother of the infant, says, "I hopes that no one ever has to experience what she is going through."
The baby is now at home recovering with her family.
