Area Congressman Says Yes to Importing Medications

Congressman Randy Neugebauer says he did it to help lower the cost of medications. Neugebauer voted yes on Friday to allow imports of prescription drugs into the United States.

The measure is aimed at helping patients get access to lower cost medications. But, the Bush administration opposes it, saying it may compromise safety and allow unsafe counterfeits and outdated medicines.

The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate where it is expected to face tough opposition.
