LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The Lubbock man who was arrested in November 2009 on charges related to a Wisconsin murder-for-hire will stand trial with his co-defendants and not go to trial separately. That's according to multiple media reports including TMJ4, the NBC affiliate for Milwaukee.
According to authorities, Darren Wold, 41 at the time, of Lubbock had a custody dispute with his ex-girlfriend Kimberly Smith. They say Wold got help from a friend to hire a hit-man who then killed Smith in her home in Oconomowoc. All three are locked up in Waukesha and will be tried together and not separately.
Wold was arrested in Lubbock and then extradited to Wisconsin.
