For the fifth and final year, Lubbock will host the Miss Texas USA pageant at the Municipal Auditorium Monday night. Saturday the girls got their poses down to perfection including our hometown girl, Elizabeth Brandt.
"Being Miss Lubbock has been a dream of mine for a long time and I'm getting to live out that dream right now," says Elizabeth Brandt, Miss Lubbock.
For these 101 ladies, being Miss Texas has been a life-long dream and one of them will live out that dream and win the crown Monday night. "It'd be such an honor and to get to work around the state doing what I do here in Lubbock just get to expand that," says Elizabeth.
"I've wanted so hard this year in order to obtain that goal and honestly I think I'd be a good representative for Texas and go on and do my best in Miss USA," says Tyler Willis, Miss Northwest Texas. Contestants here say pageants are more than just glitz and glamour they also build character
"Honestly I think this is the best venue for you to reach out and reach the community. Especially being Miss Texas will give you a chance to travel all over the state," says Tyler.
"Pageants are definitely not cut-throat they are alot of fun. They are alot of hard work and alot of the girls have been getting ready for years for this moment," says Elizabeth.
And even though only one will win the title Miss Texas, they say getting this far is a great and memorable accomplishment.
"It's been a lot of fun. I've met a lot of really nice girls, had a chance to really focus. I've learned a lot of skills from doing pageants, interview skills, and interaction. I've really become a motivated person, I've grown through pageants," says Elizabeth.
