Deployed dad watches daughter born in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – While the date makes it a birth easy to remember - there's something even more special about how this little one was brought into the world.

Mackinzee Huerta was born at Covenant Medical Center at 6:44am on New Year's day. Her daddy is on his second deployment to Afghanistan, but thanks to Skype technology he was able to see his little girl as she was born.

"It was very special for me. I was like, 'Oh, watch it happen to where something goes wrong.' But everything went perfectly fine. We had a little bit of complications as far as Internet access, but everything ended up working" exhausted new mom Desire Huerta said.

At nearly 8 pounds, Huerta says Mackinzee was a little bigger than they expected, and she can't wait until the new dad gets to hold his little girl.
