Feds seek to keep Lubbock bank robbery suspect locked up

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Federal prosecutors take action to keep a Lubbock bank robbery suspect locked up.  Carlton Ray Taylor, 54, of Lubbock was arrested Monday on charges that robbed Lubbock National Bank on December 31st.

Court records say Taylor did not show a weapon during the robbery, however Taylor "put his hand in his pocket  which led the teller to believe the man may have had a weapon."  The teller, "being afraid" handed over roughly $10,000 to Taylor, an FBI criminal complaint says.

An Assistant U.S. Attorney in Lubbock cites "A crime of violence."  Her motion says, "The Court should detain defendant ... because no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure: Safety of any other person and the community."

According to the motion, the court will hold a detention hearing after three days.  A check of the local federal court calendar Tuesday evening showed that the hearing had not yet been scheduled.

Taylor was held Tuesday night on a federal charge of bank robbery, and a state charge of possession of a controlled substance.
