On Tuesday, Governor Rick Perry added government reorganization and election issues to the agenda of the second special legislative session. The move allows the Texas House and Senate to consider both items.
The update allows lawmakers to consider legislation relating to dates of certain elections, the procedures for canvassing the ballots and the counting of certain ballots sent by mail. Both issues also were part of the agenda during the first special legislative session on redistricting.
The second special session began yesterday with three issues on the agenda: congressional redistricting, adjustments to transportation legislation and state fiscal management.
