Wildfires and extreme drought have put a major strain on the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Lubbock. The only rehabilitation center within 350 miles, the SPWRC has taken in 30 to 50 animals on a daily basis.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will fully activate the traffic signals at the 19th Street and west Loop 289 interchange Thursday, June 23.
