Shoppers get ready! The fifth Texas tax free shopping weekend is almost here. This weekend there will be no sales tax charged on most clothes and shoes under $100. It's a perfect chance to get all your back to school shopping in with a little help from the government.
For those who love to shop and love a good deal this weekend is like a dream come true and for those of you who just want to get it over with, get ready, tax free weekend is back.
"Its a great weekend for mall retailers, next to the holiday retail season this is probably the biggest weekend for back to school for all of our retailers," said South Plains Mall Marketing Manager Beth Bridges.
Bridges says stores have been preparing for this weekend, and are ready for the crowds.
"Actually what our company has done is we've gotten so much merchandise, different sizes and styles, we've set up new promotions, we've done everything we could do, we have our staff ready, our store organized and we're ready to get all this stuff out," said Rave Girl Manager, Jessica Myers.
Going back to school is now for everybody, men, women, boys and girls the tax free weekend doesn't discriminate. Whether it's a Tech shirt or socks your looking for there's trendy clothes and Levis Straus almost all clothes are on sale.
The deals don't stop at the mall. Wal-Mart too has stocked up on all the necessities. "It's an excellent weekend we're super excited about it. Anytime we get the opportunity to give our customers a better deal, the customers are used to getting a good deal here at Walmart and now thanks to the Government they can even get a better deal," says Terry Tschoepe, Wal-Mart Manager.
So be prepared to fight the crowd, but keep in mind how much you could save.
The mall has extended their hours this weekend, they'll be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday from 11 a.m. -7 p.m.
Mall management also says most stores that don't have tax free items and planning sales this weekend.
