LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – An oil worker based out of Odessa was in critical condition Thursday at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Zach Fitzilliam, 34, was struck on the head Wednesday morning when a piece of metal fell from approximately 30 feet above him.  Gaines County officials say he was wearing a hard hat.  Fitzwilliam was then airlifted to UMC.

The oil rig site is five miles south of County Road 314 and West of County Road 341.
