Adkins now called "suspect" in teenager's disappearance

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The City Manager of Colorado City, Pete Kampfer, says Shawn Adkins is now a "suspect" in the disappearance of Hailey Dunn, 13.  Adkins was the live-in boyfriend of Hailey's mom.  She disappeared shortly after Christmas and the case has garnered national news attention.

Kampfer also tells KCBD NewsChannel 11 that officers are also searching landfills as part of their investigation.  Earlier this week authorities named Adkins as one of their "persons of interest" but the names of other persons were not disclosed.

Both Adkins and Hailey's mother failed lie-detector tests as part of the investigation.  The mother, Billie Dunn, says she failed because of the actions of person administering the test.  Adkins has declined chances to comment.

If you have information that could help officers locate Hailey, please call your local law enforcement or call Colorado City Police at 325-728-5294.
