National Kids Day in Lubbock

Dozens of Lubbock families took part in National Kids Day on Sunday at Wilson Boys and Girls Club. National Kids Day is the first Sunday in August every year, and it's a day that celebrates and honors children.

Parents spent time with their kids at Lubbock's Boys and Girls Club Sunday enjoying games, music, food, and a whole lot of fun. "Cowboy" Fred Ortiz is the Chairman of Up and Coming Scholars, and he says it's important to spend time with your kids.

"Research has indicated that parents that spend time with their kids, their kids grow up with a better self-image, more confidence, and all together are better put together," says Ortiz.

More than 300 kids took part in Lubbock's celebration of National Kids Day.
