Even on the third day of the tax free shopping weekend, the South Plains Mall was buzzing with buyers.
"It's been pretty hectic, actually everywhere you go people are trying to get the best deals," said Norma Ybarra, a shopper.
"Traffic's been okay. People's been really crowded, busy, some of the shops have been busy, and you have to wait, but it's worth it to get the tax free," said Kelly Dyer, a shopper.
So, how worth is it to fight through the parking lot, then the people inside, just to save sales tax?
"I probably saved at least $54," said Ebony Paulhill.
"Deals have been great, a lot of name brands that we found on clearance, then on top of that no tax, it's been wonderful. We come from Hobbs, so we travel all this way just to save," said Kelly Dyer.
So, it's not just the no tax that brings people out, it's the overall bargains stores offer on this particular weekend.
"Yes, in some of the stores, they have buy two and get one free, and some of them are like 50% off, or buy two or three shoes get half off the next, so it's a good thing," said Norma Ybarra.
150,000 people were expected to shop at the South Plains Mall this weekend, but some say it hasn't been that busy.
"I think it's been a little slow. Friday was real good. Saturday was good. (Sunday's) been slow. I figured it'd be a little better than it is," said Shanna Saunders of Our Stuff.
The number of people out shopping this weekend and the economic impact this weekend has on Lubbock is not yet final.
