Lubbock County Auditor's Contract Not Renewed

Lubbock County will soon be looking for a new auditor.

At a meeting last week among district judges, the motion was made to reappoint Lawrence Jones, who has held the auditor position for the last 8 years, but it didn't pass.

County Judge Tom Head says he thinks Jones has done an excellent job for the commissioners court and that he is "flabbergasted" that Jones wasn't reinstated to the job.

No district judges were available for comment Monday to explain why he wasn't assigned to another term. Now the search begins for an interim auditor or replacement.

County business is expected to go on as usual.
