On Tuesday the Texas Lottery Commission voted to join ten other states in the multistate Mega Millions lottery.
Lottery officials expect almost $325 million in Texas game ticket sales over ten months starting in November.
For weeks, Lotto Texas Executive Director Reagan Greer had been studying whether to recommend that Texas join Mega Millions or the Powerball multistate lottery. The push to join a multistate game comes as the state's signature game, Lotto Texas, continues to suffer from depressed ticket sales.
Other Mega Millions States include: Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia, and Washington.
