City approves moving MHMR services to East Broadway

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Lubbock City Council overturned a previous ruling by the Planning & Zoning Commission, and voted unanimously to allow MHMR to relocate its residential substance abuse treatment facility to 3315 East Broadway Street. 

In order to allow Mental Health Mental Retardation to relocate, the area had to be rezoned from single family residence to a specific use zone.  Services now provided at the Billy Meeks Center, 1601 Vanda, will be relocated to the former Martin Elementary building.  No decision has been made on whether or not the name "Billy Meeks" will be given to the new location. 

The 90-day treatment center includes living facilities.
