LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock man might have set a new state record while fishing at Lake Alan Henry.  According to Texas Parks & Wildlife, Erik Atkins caught a 5.62-pound bass, which is now being genetically tested to see if it is Spotted Bass.  If so, it would break the previous record of 5.56 pounds set at Lake O' the Pines in 1966.

Atkins caught the fish during a tournament on January 15th.  TPWD says its 22.75 inches in length and 15 inches in girth

TPWD says in a written statement, "Following a quarantine period the fish will be placed on display at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center."
