"Click It of Ticket" Campaign Working

No matter where the road takes you, the Texas Department of Transportation just wants to make sure you are buckled up. And after the recent "Click It or Ticket" campaign, it seems Texans are getting the message.

You may remember the two week period earlier this summer when a statewide campaign was launched to warn Texas drivers to buckle up or face a hefty fine. And while TXDOT reports an increase in the amount of drivers wearing their seatbelts because of that, there is still a large number of people who are not buckling up. More than 50,000 citations for seatbelt violations were issued by state troopers during that special enforcement period.

Here in Lubbock, 88% of drivers are wearing their seatbelts. That number is up 10% here from a survey done last year.
