Lubbock banker Steinmetz named as TTU Regent

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Well-known Lubbock banker John Steinmetz was named Tuesday as a Texas Tech University System Regent.  Steinmetz is also a board member for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and former Chairman of the Lubbock County Republican Party.

"I was called this morning [Tuesday] by the Governor's office and offered the opportunity," Steinmetz told KCBD NewsChannel 11.  "I am honored and humbled to serve the Texas Tech University System on behalf of the Governor."

Governor Rick Perry also re-appointed current regents Larry Anders of Plano and Debbie Montford of San Antonio.  All three will serve a six year term.

Steinmetz is President of Vista Bank.
