Road conditions factor in rollover on the South Loop Wednesday - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Road conditions factor in rollover on the South Loop Wednesday morning.

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Police say icy road conditions were a factor in a rollover on the South Loop Wednesday morning.

Firefighters and police responded to the accident around 7:30 after witnesses called in the accident. Lubbock police on the scene tell KCBD that the driver of the minivan hit a patch of ice on South Loop 289 and flipped over. The van landed on its roof in the ditch between the access road and the loop.

The accident happened between Quaker and Slide. The only person in the vehicle ran away from the scene. Police temporarily shut down the access road so a wrecker service could move the vehicle out of the way.

Authorities urge drivers to use caution and watch out for icy patches.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 will continue to keep you updated on road conditions.
