LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Major roads and intersections seem to be clearing up for your commute Thursday. Road crews with the state and city have patrolled Lubbock streets for nearly four days now working to clear ice and snow.
"The road crews have done a very good job of clearing off what is on there and we have been fortunate that it has not come back in the way of more moisture and precipitation," said Lubbock Police Department Lt. Jon Caspell.
Lt. Caspell believes school delays have more than likely helped keep the number of weather related accidents down.
Side streets and residential areas are still covered with ice and snow, so police advise that you use caution when traveling on those roads. Also, watch out for ice covered parking lots and packed snow on the sides of roads and in shaded areas like under overpasses. Road crews say warmer temperatures that are forecasted for Friday will help melt some of what is left on streets.
