LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police are now offering a new service to alert residents in the event of emergencies or major crimes. It's called Nixle. Police have scheduled a news event for Thursday afternoon to answer questions.
The LPD website says, "Nixle is a Community Information Service Provider built to provide secure, reliable communications." In other words police can send emails or text messages to everyone in Lubbock who subscribes to the service or police can narrow the message to those in a specific area of town.
