LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – There's a new spelling bee champ in town. Students across the Lubbock Independent School District met this morning for this year's spelling bee.
Saturday at Irons Middle School 35 students spelled words for 34 rounds, the most rounds ever recorded for a district wide spelling bee.
Caleb Anderson, an eighth grader at Irons, won the bee on his home turf. Anderson will continue on to the regional spelling bee in March where the winner will advance to the nationals in Washington D.C.
