LUBBOCK (KCBD) – The Texas Tech and No. 46 Alabama women's tennis teams each won three singles matches on Saturday before continuing doubles play with Alabama capturing the doubles point and the match win, 4-3.
Lady Raider Samantha Adams defeated Alabama's No. 63 Alexa Guarachi, 7-6(3), 6-4, at No. 2 singles. Freshman Haley Fournier defeated Alex Clay at No. 4 singles for Texas Tech's second singles point, 6-3, 6-4. Sandra Dynka gave Tech their third point with her 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles over Antonia Foehse.
Alabama won at No. 1 singles as No. 15 Mary Anne Macfarlane stopped Elizabeth Ullathorne, 6-3, 6-0. The Crimson Tide also won at the third singles position with No. 72 Courtney McLane defeating Caroline Starck, 6-3, 6-1. Alabama's third singles win came at No. 6 singles with Meritt Emery topping Nikki Sanders, 6-12, 6-4.
In doubles play, Alabama won at top position with No. 6 Alexa Guarachi and Courtney McLane winning 8-5 over Kelsy Garland and Samantha Adams. Alabama's No. 32 tandem of Antonia Foehse and Mary Anne Macfarlane edged Texas Tech's Haley Fournier and Elizabeth Ullathorne, 8-6, for the doubles point and the match win.
