No. 15 Texas Tech Defeats No. 32 Fresno State, 6-1

LUBBOCK (KCBD) - The No. 15 Texas Tech Red Raiders completed their three-game road trip to California with a 6-1 win over the No. 32 Fresno State Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs opened the match by winning Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead over the Red Raiders. Fresno State's No. 1 doubles tandem of Remi Boutillier and Rikus de Villiers defeated Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia, 8-5. FSU's No. 2 doubles duo of Francis Alcantara and Jean-Charles Diame stopped Vitor Manzini and Gonzalo Escobar, 8-6. Texas Tech's Raphael Pfister and David Gonzalez won at No. 3 doubles over Siddharth Alapati and Nick Papac, 9-7.

In singles, Red Raider Raphael Pfister tied the match with his 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 6 singles over Bulldog Nick Papac. Texas Tech grabbed a 2-1 lead in the match as No. 20 Gonzalo Escobar defeated Fresno State's Rikus de Villiers at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4. At No. 2 singles, Raony Carvalho stopped Remi Boutillier, 6-2, 6-2 as teammate Rafael Garcia downed Jean-Charles Diame at the third position, 6-2, 6-3.

After dropping the first set, Gabriel Wanderley came back to win his No. 5 singles match over Siddharth Alapati, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 10-6. Red Raider Vitor Manzini completed Texas Tech's sweep in singles play with his 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (5), win over Francis Alcantara at the fourth position.

The Red Raiders return home to prepare for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships set for Feb. 18-21 in Seattle, Wash.
