Update: Covenant Medical Center is no longer diverting ambulances to UMC

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Covenant Medical Center is no longer diverting ambulances to UMC after the sprinkler head pipe burst Wednesday.

Covenant is asking patient's coming to the emergency room to enter only through the main entrance off of 21st Street. We have staff in place to help direct them to the right location.

After reviewing the damage, contractors believe Covenant will be able to reopen the emergency department waiting room on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Our emergency department is still open!

Quick response allowed Covenant staff to move patients and their families to a dry and safe location. Patient care was not affected in any way. Everyone is dry, safe and warm.
