Statement from Representative Perry Regarding Committee Appointments

AUSTIN, TX ( News Release) - Speaker Joe Straus announced the committee assignments for the 82nd Legislative Session. Representative Perry is pleased to report that he will be serving on the Corrections; Defense and Veterans Affairs; and Rules and Resolutions Committees. Representative Perry issued the following statement:

"I want to thank Speaker Joe Straus for his trust in me. I look forward to working with the Corrections Committee to review the operation and management of correctional facilities, as well as, alternatives to incarceration in order to save money for the state.  I'm honored to be on the Defense and Veteran's Affairs committee so I can work to ensure that those who served our country honorably are now served honorably by Texas. This committee has jurisdiction over the state defense from terrorism, in addition to emergency preparedness.  Rules and Resolutions is a procedural committee that is responsible for House and Concurrent Resolutions and for expediting the business of the House.  It is also a committee that can send resolutions to the federal government, letting them know that Texas does not want Obamacare and more frivolous D.C. spending.

I'm pleased to see that the West Texas delegation is spread out among committees so we can be effective in representing the needs of West Texas.   I look forward to representing the interest of House District 83 through my role on these important committees."
