Karin McCay

Karin is a Texas Tech graduate and has been co-anchoring the 6:00 and 10:00 news with Abner Euresti since 1980. The two have also paired up to host the Children's Miracle Network Telethon since 1984 and with your help have raised more than $13 million for the Children's Hospital at U.M.C.

Karin is the most recognized Health reporter on the South Plains. She is a 17 time Anson Jones Award winner, which is selected by the Texas Medical Association. She has won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award four times and earned an Emmy nomination for best news documentary.

Karin's involvement with the news permeates through every newscast with Health content in Daybreak Today, HealthWise @ 5, and the award winning HealthWise at 10.

Karin is married to Lubbock County Commissioner Bill McCay. They have two children.  Jacob is going to Tarleton State University.  Morgan, a graduate of Texas Tech with a Master's Degree from Tarleton State, is a realtor in Lubbock. She is married to Daniel Olivier, an Agronomist for Bayer Crop Science. They have an 18 month old son, Retief, whose nickname for Karin is "Kiki".

    Four years ago in Atlanta, the mystery torchbearer was Muhammed Ali who lit the flame to signal the start of the Olympic games. Coincidentally, Ali was in Atlanta December 4th, to pass the first flame in its journey to the winter games in Salt Lake City but 8 days and 1,600 miles into the run, the Olympic flame reached Dallas, and I was there.
