Day 18 of Texas Senate Stalemate

Thursday is day 18 of the Texas Senate stalemate over plans to redraw congressional districts. There is a daily penalty that will be imposed upon each of the Texas 11 missing senators and those penalty fees begin Thursday with $1,000.

Meanwhile, the 11 Texas Democrats holed up in an Albuquerque hotel have been joined now by some Colorado lawmakers. The fight involves a GOP backed congressional redistricting plan in Texas. Five Democratic lawmakers from Colorado and the Texas Senators Thursday accused the White House of orchestrating a power grab of congress through redistricting various states.

Governor Rick Perry said if state business is not taken care of this session, he intends to call a third special session when this one is over.
