Alleged South Texas Drug Dealer in Lubbock Custody

An accused drug dealer remains in custody, following a raid on two homes in South Lubbock Thursday.

John Patrick Morales was arrested near the intersection of 50th & Chicago for warrants issued in Del Rio. Morales is charged with conspiracy and possession to distribute more than five kilos of cocaine. He was arraigned before a federal magistrate this morning.

The charges are believed to stem from a drug ring that originates in Mexico and filters through Del Rio and Eagle Pass.

Thursday, DEA agents raided Morales' house at 2918 85th Street, they then searched his son's rented house at 2326 92nd Street. That's where agents removed two vehicles, a big screen TV, and several boxes of evidence.

The investigation is on going. Morales will now face a detention hearing in Del Rio.
