By Christie Post - email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Campuses in the Lubbock Independent School District are working through the plane crash tragedy. That's because the victims had ties to the school district.

Gery Franklin who was killed in the crash, his wife Carrie is a math teacher at Coronado. Daniel Lopez also was killed, but his wife Christine survived in the back seat. Christine's mother, Ruby Garza works at Centennial. Which is where another survivor, Cody Brockman is a PE teacher.

LISD released this statement:

"The plane crash in Hockley County closely touched the LISD. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Franklin, Lopez, and Brockman families, as well as the faculty and staff of Coronado High School and Centennial Elementary. Counselors are at the campuses as they work through this tragedy."
