Accused Child Rapist Now in Jail

Police charged a Lubbock man with aggravated sexual assault Thursday for allegedly raping his girlfriend's 5-year-old twin daughters. The incident happened Wednesday morning.

33-year-old Gregorio Minjarez Junior was charged with aggravated assault and evading arrest. According to police reports, officers responded to a sexual assault in progress, at 320 East Tulane around 8am Wednesday morning.

The report says the mother of two 5-year-old twin girls got out of bed, went to the girls' room and caught her fiance, Gregorio Minjarez, in the act of raping one of the girls. The mother then called her mother who called 911.

According to the same police report, when police arrived the suspect ran, but was arrested after a brief chase. When questioned later, the twin girls said that, 'Daddy had been hurting them at night.'

Minjarez injured his foot while running from the police. That injury required surgery. He was then transported to the Lubbock County jail.
