On Thursday 31-year-old Collie Willard was charged with murder. Willard is accused of stabbing 22-year-old Roberto Esquivel to his death at a party last weekend.
"It's been an ongoing investigation since the stabbing took place, the police department basically has been working on this 24/7. Trying to talk to witnesses and such to complete their investigation, at least enough to bring it to us, And there was enough probable cause to file", First Assistant District Attorney Matt Powell said.
Meantime, Willard is already behind bars. Where according to the Sheriff's department he should've been at the time of the killing. Willard was wrongfully released due to a clerical error back in January, that the Sheriff's department and TDC are still trying to clear up.
Willard was scheduled to serve 365 days to Lubbock county for a previous charge. His murder trial is yet to be set.
